Diane Preston believes that sculpturing is the way to express what her inner conscious is feeling. Her caring nature influences her to create mother and child sculptures that symbolize the most important thing a mother can give, her love.
The strong bond between a loving mother and her child goes well beyond words. This holds true regardless of any culture in any country worldwide. Diane captures this relationship in clay and transfers it to bronze lasting thousands of years for future generations to see.
As a mother of three, Diane understands the caring bond a mother shares with her children as is reflected in her work.
Her love of creating three-dimensional work began over 30 years ago with her award winning civic theater set designs. Diane felt a great sense of fulfillment in expressing her imagination through physical representation. She soon moved on to explore other avenues of art and studied color pencil, oil, watercolor and sculpturing.
Diane was introduced to sculpture at Northern Arizona University , where she studied. Further studies at the Ringling School of Art, Dunedin Fine Art Center and as a student of Candace Knapp and Renate Burgyan helped her to fine-tune her skills. |
